The
ISIS of VARESE was born during the school year 2007/2008 as a
“Polyvalent Institution” for Education, Technical and Professional
Training. It is the result of the unification of ITIS and IPSIA of
VARESE.
Although the most important features which characterize the two schools
remain unchanged, the ISIS has only one management and an individual
presence in our territory concerning the educational field.
Our
challenge is to establish only one meaningful education training,
together with more specialized opportunities for a public secondary
school : TECHNICAL, PROFESSIONAL and ADULT EDUCATION.

The
IPSIA of Varese was born between 1960 and 1961, an it starts its
activity in order to make courses for mechanic, electric and ceramics’
industry (sited apart in Laveno Mombello). In the 70s, after the
experience in Laveno, the school was enriched by the introduction of a
Chemical Course in cooperation with the Mazzuchelli Company in Olona.
Nowadays the world of work is looking for professional figures who
should be able to adapt themselves to its changes and needs. That’s why
all old courses have been replaced by new itineraries completely new
and renewed in both contents and aims. The didactic purpose of our
institution becomes real with all new courses which give a primary
qualification after the first three years of study, aiming to facilitate
engagement for students, or with the post-qualification courses which
are biennial that lead to the Final Degree. Professional Education is a
very good link between school and the world of work.

During the 30s and the 40s the city of Varese was one of the most
industrialized town of the territory, that’s why there was a grown of
Professional School in order to train people for the world of work.
What
was absolutely absent was instead the presence of Specializes Schools
which should deal with a technical education for Industrial Experts who
had to move to Milan to attend a Technical School. Because of the WWII
in 1943, the Professional School “Leonardo da Vinci” in Varese was
enriched with a section of the ITIS Feltrinelli in Milan, to train
Experts Mechanics and Electrics.
It is
in this circumstances that the project of the Founders of Professional
School develops, in order to offer more chances to students and give
them more possibilities to find a job.
Together with the two specialized schools which came from the
Feltrinelli of Milan, there was later on the addition of a Textile
Section thanks to the great technical equipments of laboratories inside
the school.
